Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our Real Estate Practice Group and play a key role in supporting sophisticated commercial real estate transactions. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys, title companies, surveyors, and clients on complex deals while contributing critical title and survey analysis that helps drive successful closings.

This role requires experience in the full range of real estate transactions from pre- to post-closing, as well as extensive experience with title and survey review and resolution.

This will be a hybrid role working onsite in Century City 4 days/week. Firm offers competitive salary and full benefits package.

Duties

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and summarize title insurance commitments and underlying title documents.
  • Identify liens, easements, encumbrances, title exceptions, and other matters impacting ownership.
  • Coordinate with title companies regarding commitments, pro formas, endorsements, and final title policies.
  • Prepare title objection summaries and assist attorneys with title curative matters.
  • Order, track, and review ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
  • Analyze surveys for easements, access rights, encroachments, boundary issues, and site control matters.
  • Draft accurate legal descriptions for mortgages, deeds, and other recorded real estate instruments.
  • Coordinate with surveyors and title officers to verify legal descriptions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Abstract and summarize key provisions from leases, easements, declarations, reciprocal easement agreements (REAs), and related documents.
  • Organize and maintain transaction due diligence files and document management systems.
  • Communicate with title companies, surveyors, and other third-party vendors regarding document corrections and delivery.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing title and survey reports for clients and internal review.
  • Reviewing and updating closing checklists over duration of transaction.
  • Prepare closing binders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial real estate paralegal experience with a strong concentration in title and survey matters.
  • Experience drafting legal descriptions for recorded real estate documents, including mortgages and deeds.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Windows-based applications.
